With the “Megapress” pipe system from Viega, thick-walled steel pipes can be pressed in seconds. This is considerably more economical and secure in comparison with conventional welding. Many fitters have already been convinced by the time saving of up to 60 percent. Now, Viega is also making it possible to connect pipes into existing steel pipe installations using the press-in connection. This only takes two minutes with the new “Megapress press-in connection” and the right tool set. The installation can be used again immediately. This finally makes welding in boiler rooms a thing of the past.
The technician only needs a drill, a Viega press tool and the new tool set to fit a “Megapress press-in connection” to an existing system. The technician drills the custom-fit hole using the retaining device and drilling shaft included in the set. Then, the press-in connection is pressed into the pipe using the press machine and the insert, which is also included in the tool set. An integrated profile sealing element ensures permanent impermeability. In addition, the new press-in connection, like all “Megapress” connectors, offers security against forced leakage in an unpressed state due to the SC-Contur: Inadvertently unpressed connections become visible during the leakage test. After pressing, the pipe connections are permanently sealed.
Individual “multi T-piece”
The new press-in connection is equipped with a ¾“ internal thread; a reducer for ½“ connections is also available. The compact structure of the “Megapress press-in connection” makes it possible to position several outlets next to or on top of each other. This allows an individual “multi T-piece” with ¾“ and / or ½“ connections to be created.
Connection in two minutes
The “Megapress press-in connection” is significantly more economical than the laborious welding of connections. The connection is created in just two minutes. In addition, neither fire protection regulations nor cooling times have to be taken into consideration. The system can be reused again immediately after the pressing.
The “Megapress press-in connection” is made of steel with a zinc-nickel coating and available for seven steel pipe dimensions between 1 1/2” and 6”.
